Doyle to Present American School Paintings, Tiffany & Co. Centerpiece Bowls in Upcoming AuctionJul 28, 2022 10:00 EDT
Doyle’s upcoming auction will showcase several American School pieces. An early-20th-century American School oil painting is highlighted in this late July sale. The painting, a portrait of Madeleine G. Barker McCarter (1867 – 1957), has been signed at the top left corner; however, the signature is unreadable, leaving the artist’s identity unknown. In the painting, McCarter stands before a dark, windswept landscape rendered in shades of olive green and mustard yellow.
Two 20th-century Tiffany & Co. sterling silver centerpiece bowls will also be offered. Both bowls are circular and have notches on the top rim. The smaller bowl of the pair measures over six inches in diameter and sits on three feet while the larger bowl has a round base. A late 18th or early 19th-century George III mahogany bureau bookcase, a mid-20th-century Moroccan Tuareg reed and leather flat-woven carpet, and a lot of 51 finely bound 19th-century history books will also be available. Visit Doyle to view the auction’s entire catalog and to register to bid.
