Day 1: Fine Art And Selections From The Collector’s

Kamelot Auctions presents over 250 pieces of fine and decorative art in their upcoming auction. A lithograph by Alexander Calder, titled Comets, is one of the featured lots. Altering the course of modern art, Calder was best known for creating three-dimensional wire sculptures. However, he also worked with paintings and lithographs to examine the concepts of color, space, and composition. The available piece depicts abstract comet-like shapes, colored with a bold palette. 

Representing the Abstract Expressionist movement is an oil painting titled Woman’s Head by American artist Gino Hollander. He is recognized for creating abstract works in a bold yet fluid style, similar to the work of Franz Kline. Seeking to evoke an emotional reaction from his viewers, Hollander has reflected: “I chose painting for the immediacy of the moment the medium can allow—its immediacy of expression.” Also available in this auction is an Italian six-armed crystal chandelier dating back to the 1880s.
