Brunk Auctions to Offer Henri Martin’s Painting and Decorative Arts on November 11

French painter Henri-Jean Guillaume Martin was renowned for his Neo-Impressionist paintings. Martin often explored historical and poetic themes in his paintings. His art involved bold usage of colors accompanied by expressive, short brushstrokes. The upcoming Premier Auction-Session I sale presented by Brunk Auctions features one of Martin’s artworks. Femme Cousant sous un Marronnier (Woman Sewing Under a Chestnut Tree) is an idyllic Impressionist painting authenticated by Cyrille Martin.  

Another highlight in this sale is a fine Irish George II carved Mahogany games table. The 17th-century table looks classy with a solid dovetailed drawer and brass pull. While the knee of the cabriole legs is lavishly carved with intricate drawings, the feet of the furniture piece resemble lion paws.
