Austin Auction Gallery Presents Three-Day Sale of Fine Art, Decorative Art, Furniture, and More

Austin Auction Gallery’s upcoming three-session sale features a variety of fine artworks, decorative art, furniture, Asian art pieces, and more. Leading the auction is Paul Evans’ Deep Relief cabinet. A sculptor and designer well-known for American craft and furniture design, Evans designed works that impacted many furniture manufacturers in the latter half of the 20th century. Evans’ designs evolved and were refined continuously throughout his career. He accomplished this by merging sculpture with design in his Sculpture Front series. The works from this series are notable for their depth, dimensionality, and creativity, as well as their rarity. The offered cabinet from this series features patinated steel panels, along with a signature under the right door, reading “Paul Evans 70”. 

This timed sale includes a varied collection of fine artworks from notable artists such as Jerry Ruthven, Bill Mittag, and Judy Copeland. Among the top lots is a Western landscape painting by Mittag, titled Return to Camp. An American post-war and contemporary painter, the artist’s works “primarily show the passage and life of man through the landscape,” states the artist’s profile on his website. Bidders can also consider a pair of French gold and lapis lazuli cufflinks, a French Morbier wall clock, and two blue and white Chinese porcelain vases.
