Art Glass Sculpture by Lino Tagliapietra Highlights Upcoming Nye & Co. Auction

Lino Tagliapietra is a glass art expert known for his Venetian glassblowing techniques. Tagliapietra’s work features a cultural mix of American and Murano glassmaking. The upcoming auction from Nye & Co. presents a Fenice art glass sculpture by Lino Tagliapietra. The 2006 glass sculpture features unique colors which Tagliapietra independently developed. These colors, according to the artist, make the glassworks softer and more Venetian. Another highlight of the auction is a glazed ceramic bowl by artists Edwin and Mary Scheier. The couple was famous for reviving studio pottery with unusual clay forms and abstract decorations. The upcoming sale features a Scheier ceramic bowl glazed in black and blue. 

Frederick Hart’s acrylic sculpture with a black illuminated pedestal, titled Illuminata III, is also available. Hart’s figurative sculptures depict abstract forms and movements inspired by Auguste Rodin. The transparent acrylic in his sculptures creates a fluid appearance that resembles ice. The available Illuminata III acrylic sculpture shows two embracing figures at the center of the piece. Acrylic shrouds them from view at certain angles.
