A 1911 Harley-Davidson 7D Twin Will Be Highlighted in Mecum’s Las Vegas Motorcycles 2024 Sale
Jan 24, 2024 10:00 EST - Jan 27, 2024 10:00 ESTThe 1911 Harley-Davidson 7D Twin is considered the forefather of the iconic Harley-Davidson V-Twin. An example of this motorcycle will lead the upcoming Las Vegas Motorcycles 2024 sale, offered by Mecum Auctions. The four-day long event is offering the best of bikes. Harley-Davidson and its Big Twins are one of the most iconic marques on the planet. To add to the rarity, the available 7D Twin is one of only four known to exist from 1911, the first year of Harley V-Twin production. It has the original 7D 811cc/7 HP V-twin engine and sheet metal intact. This bike was also displayed at the Guggenheim Museum’s Art of the Motorcycle exhibit in 1998. It is finished in Renault gray, with dark blue ribbons and red and gold pinstriping.
From the Museo Moto Italia Collection of John Goldman comes a 1957 Mondial 250 Bialbero Grand Prix Racer. The 1957 Mondial Grand Prix Racer was the Best of Show winner at the 2017 Quail Motorcycle Gathering. The Mondial Grand Prix bike and engine were constructed in late 1956. It has a 250cc double overhead cam engine. The bike, which has a bevel gear type head engine, is believed to be the one Tarquinio Provini raced to second place in the 1957 Grand Prix World Championship in the 250cc class. Provini also raced on this bike to win the 1957 Italian National Championship. The bike has also been featured in the 2023 book Ultimate Collector Motorcycles edited by Charlotte and Peter Fiell. Its restoration took place over ten years by Giancarlo Morbidelli in his Pesaro museum’s restoration shop. View the catalog of the Las Vegas Motorcycles 2024 auction by visiting Mecum Auctions.
