1924 $20 Gold Double Eagle Coin and 1879-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coin Come to Sale With Gold Standard Auctions
May 24, 2024 10:00 EDTMS-64 Double Eagle gold coins are considered highly valuable by numismatists. Designed by famed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, they were minted from 1907 to 1933. One such exceptional piece that highlights the upcoming sale, presented by Gold Standard Auctions, is a 1924 graded $24 MS-64 Gold Double Eagle coin. It has been graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). Made of 0.9675 ounces of gold, this lot is in excellent condition. While the coin’s obverse depicts an iconic design of Lady Liberty, the reverse shows a flying eagle. Another significant lot is an 1879-CC Morgan silver dollar coin, closely uncirculated. Designed by George T. Morgan, the coin shows Liberty in a Phrygian cap fitting closely around her head.
Also available in the sale is an assortment of Flying Eagle and Indian Head cents. The set comprises a total of 58 coins dating from 1837 to 1909. About 208 coins from the Lincoln Cent Collection, an 1894-O Morgan Silver Dollar certified by PGA, modern bullion pieces, and key date U.S. paper money, are all part of the auction.
