Tiffany Engagement Ring and Victorian Tiara Lead Fortuna’s Fine Jewelry Sale

Fortuna Auction’s upcoming Fine Jewels & Watches sale brings a selection of vintage and contemporary jewelry and watches to the 235-item catalog. Among the top lots is a Tiffany & Co. cushion-cut diamond engagement ring. With a platinum setting, this ring features a central diamond with D color and VVS2 clarity. It weighs 4.01 carats and is accented by smaller diamonds of mixed cuts. Also notable is an 8.10-carat Burmese unheated sapphire and diamond ring. The vivid sapphire at the center of this piece is accented by smaller diamonds and is set in 18-karat white gold. It is accompanied by a GemResearch Swisslab (GRS) report noting the origin and unheated condition of the sapphire.   A key vintage lot in this auction is a Victorian-era diamond tiara that can also be worn as a necklace. Old mine-cut diamonds are featured in a silver on 14-karat gold setting. Tiara-necklaces like the available lot were especially popular during the late 19th century, when England imported a large number of new diamonds from South Africa. Additionally, bidders can consider a pair of pigeon’s blood Burmese unheated ruby and diamond earrings, set in 18-karat white gold and arranged in a floral pattern, as well as collectible jewelry from Cartier, Cazzaniga, and David Webb. A range of women’s watches from Bulgari, Rolex, Chopard, and Gerald Genta can be considered as well. Natural Fancy Yellow Diamond and Square-Faceted Ruby Rings Highlight Fortuna Auction’s Upcoming Sale

Known as canary diamonds, yellow diamonds are the most coveted among the fancy colored variety. Named after the small songbird, these diamonds have a rich yellow hue. They get this unique color from the small nitrogen components in their structure. A natural fancy yellow diamond ring designed in platinum and 18-karat yellow gold is a key highlight of Fortuna Auction’s upcoming sale. It is set with a 16.07-carat cut-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut diamond, flanked by two trillion-cut diamonds. Another noteworthy ring is a GRS-certified Mozambique ruby and diamond cocktail ring. Crafted with a cushion faceted Mozambique ruby and round brilliant-cut diamonds, the ring is fashioned in 18-karat white gold. Today, Mozambique is the world’s significant source for the blood-red colored gemstone. Ruby connoisseurs might find a Tiffany & Co Schlumberger ring equally interesting. Designed with 18-karat yellow gold and platinum prongs, it is crafted with square-faceted rubies. Schlumberger is acclaimed for designing such whimsical, nature-inspired creations.  An Art Deco bracelet crafted in platinum also leads the listings. Typical of the antique jewelry made in the Art Deco era, the bracelet features old European-cut, single-cut, and baguette-cut diamonds. Pigeon’s Blood Burmese Ruby Earrings and Untreated Zambian Emerald Ring Highlight Fortuna Auction’s Upcoming Sale

The people of Myanmar, formerly Burma, use the term “ko-twe” (pigeon’s blood) to refer to the most sought-after color of ruby. This blood red variety resembles the hue of a pigeon's blood and eyes. Some also liken it to the shade of pomegranate seeds. Prized for its rarity, the blood red ruby signifies warmth and sensuality and is closely associated with royal status. A pair of helix drop earrings studded with pigeon’s blood Burmese rubies and diamonds is a key highlight of Fortuna Auction’s upcoming sale. The 18-karat white and yellow gold earrings are crafted with four unheated Burmese rubies, together weighing approximately 3.30 carats. The pieces are also accented with marquise-shaped rose-cut diamonds and round-cut rubies.  Another rare piece is a cocktail ring designed with a 3.38-carat untreated Zambian emerald and diamonds. A no-oil emerald is highly coveted for its lucidity, which is purely natural and not artificially augmented. The sale also offers a Rolex stainless steel GMT-Master wristwatch. Rolex originally produced the model in alliance with Pan American Airways in 1955. The airline then issued the watches to their crew members on long-haul flights. Kashmiri Sapphires and Fancy Yellow Diamonds Sparkle in Fortuna’s Jewelry and Watch Auction

As the calendar approaches the holiday season, Fortuna Auction will present its Jewels & Watches sale. It offers statement pieces of iconic designer jewelry and watches across all style periods. Top picks from the auction include a GIA-certified 16.07-carat natural fancy yellow diamond ring and a flawless six-carat emerald-cut diamond. Leading the auction is a 5.10-carat Kashmiri sapphire ring. It is a statement Bulgari piece crafted in platinum. The star of the ring is the pear mixed-cut Kashmir unheated sapphire. A 2.50-carat brilliant-cut diamond with I color and VS1 clarity accompanies the stone. Baguette-cut diamonds complete this Bulgari ring. These kinds of rich blue sapphires come from Jammu and Kashmir, the land subjected to disputes between India and Pakistan. Acquiring the sapphires from the mines of its mountainous landscape is a challenge. A Rare Chopard L.U.C Esprit de Fleurier Leads Upcoming Fortuna Auction Event

The upcoming Fortuna Auction sale highlights a Chopard L.U.C Esprit de Fleurier Tourbillon 18-karat white gold watch. To celebrate its 150th anniversary, luxury watch manufacturer Chopard introduced its L.U.C Esprit de Fleurier series. The wristwatch design pays tribute to the horological excellence of founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard. This limited-edition series consists of only 15 pieces and revives the Fleurisanne engraving technique. Notable lots in the upcoming auction also include a pair of antique Tiffany & Co. Cypriot hoop earrings. Tiffany’s Cypriot collection drew inspiration from the ancient jewels found on Cyprus in 1865. Tiffany was the authorized jeweler reproducing these pieces for the Curium collection at the Metropolitan Museum. These Cypriot jewelry pieces were an instant hit among collectors due to their rarity and exquisite replication. Another highlight is a Cartier Pasha wristwatch by designer Gérald Genta. The 18-karat gold wristwatch was among Cartier’s first water-resistant designs. The watch is particularly valued for its chain-attached crown cap, which has never undergone modifications despite design changes. Featured among the available jewelry lots is a 5.43-carat fancy intense orange-pink diamond ring. Brilliant-cut yellow diamonds surround the central marquise-cut diamond. Luxury jewelry items from Bulgari, Cartier, Palmiero, Harry Winston, and René Boivin are on offer as well. Jewels & Watches

Henri Rodanet (1884-1956), the descendant of a family of Parisian watchmakers, joined Jaeger LeCoultre after World War I. At the time, small wristwatches were beginning to be marketed toward women. The duo wanted to make small size lady’s watches without compromising on quality. Rodanet brainstormed the idea and came up with an innovative double-sided watch movement for the Calibre 101. LeCoultre's Calibre 101 debuted in 1929 and became world-famous in 1953 when Queen Elizabeth famously wore one of these watches on her coronation day. Fortuna Auction will present one of these LeCoultre watches from the 1930s in the upcoming sale. The available piece is modeled as a continuous line bracelet, each link set with a single white diamond and a tiny watch dial set in a square window. Among the offered 205 lots, a vintage long Alhambra necklace from Van Cleef & Arpels is particularly highlighted. Unveiled in 1968, the Alhambra motif was inspired by the four-leaf clover and is considered reminiscent of the traditional quatrefoil. Also showcased is a Gikas lapis lazuli set. This vintage 18-karat gold set includes a bracelet, earrings, and necklace. Explore the full listings and register to bid online on Bidsquare.

A Rolex "Paul Newman" Daytona is featured in Fortuna Auction’s upcoming Important Watches sale. Important Jewels

Founded in 1780 by Marie-Étienne Nitot, the House of Chaumet is a Paris-based luxury jewelry and watchmaking firm that saw success after the French Revolution in 1789. It went on to become the official jewelry designer of Napoleon I. A ruby and diamond bracelet, crafted by Chaumet, is one of the leading lots in the upcoming Important Jewels auction. The bracelet is set with oval-shaped rubies, weighing a total of 6.25 carats. Emerald-, pear-, and brilliant-cut diamonds, weighing around 25 carats, are also placed on this piece.  Another key lot in this Fortuna Auction event is a princess-cut diamond ring crafted in platinum. Set with a 3.42-carat rectangular modified brilliant-cut diamond, it is flanked by two emerald-cut stones. The cut appears square-shaped when viewed from above but looks like an inverted pyramid from the sides. The princess cut, which is popularly used in engagement rings, was created by Betazel Ambar and Israel Itzkowitz in 1980.  A tennis bracelet, crafted in 18-karat gold and set with radiant-cut diamonds, is another highlight of the sale. Owing to their lightweight and flexible form, tennis or eternity bracelets are especially popular among sportswomen. To view the complete catalog and register to bid online, visit Bidsquare.

    March Fine Jewels

Available in the upcoming March Fine Jewels auction, offered by Fortuna Auction, is a 4.95-carat diamond ring. Set in platinum, the piece features a pear brilliant-cut diamond and two tapered baguette-cut diamonds. Included with the lot is a GIA report stating the gem’s D color and VVS1 clarity. According to the American Gem Society, clarity grades of 1 or 2 fall in the category of “very, very slightly included.” This means that the diamond has “... minute [imperfections] that are difficult for a skilled grader to see under 10x magnification.”  Another highlighted lot is a diamond, opal, and sapphire necklace, set in platinum and gold. The cabochon-cut black opal is an uncommon variation of the stone, almost exclusively mined in the Australian town of Lightning Ridge. Due to traces of iron oxide and carbon elements, black opals tend to have darker and more vibrant colors as compared to regular opals. Shades of coral, yellow, blue, bright green and purple can all be seen in the available piece. Below the opal is a lozenge-shaped sapphire weighing approximately 2.60 carats. Flanking the sapphire are two half-moon step-cut diamonds.  Also featured is a sapphire and diamond ring from Van Cleef & Arpels. The central sapphire in this piece weighs approximately 9.0 carats and is accented by round brilliant- and baguette-cut diamonds. A Cartier Egyptian Revival diamond cuff will be presented, showing a falcon with its wings extended. The bird is detailed with round diamonds. Rounding out the sale are several emerald pieces from Orianne, including a statement necklace, a set of earrings, and an emerald and diamond bracelet. 2020 February Fine Jewels

Gemologists divide diamonds into two types based on the levels of nitrogen in the stone’s chemical structure. Type IIa diamonds are the most scientifically pure and are noted for their clarity. A 5-carat Type IIa diamond will be featured in the upcoming Fine Jewels auction, offered by Fortuna Auction. The diamond is placed in an 18-karat white gold ring and is flanked by two smaller diamonds. Another ring presented in the sale comes from the Harry Winston jewelry house. The pear-shaped piece follows the jeweler’s preference for elevating gemstones above metals.  Other brands represented in this auction include Tiffany & Co., Cartier, and Rolex. A Tiffany & Co. drop necklace is among the featured lots. Diamonds and aquamarines are alternated with morganite, a pink variation of beryl that resembles emeralds. The alternating pink-and-blue stones are ringed with small, brilliant-cut diamonds. Notable watch lots include a Rolex President Daydate in white gold and a vintage Piaget watch with a silver and gold Florentine finish. Explore the full catalog and register to bid on Bidsquare.
