Tiffany & Co. sterling silver tea and coffee service in the celebrated Hampton pattern number 18389 from 1912 and in Art Deco style, with an elegant, geometric design, consisting of: – a kettle on stand, which measures 11” in height (with the handle lifted) by 9”- a coffee pot, which measures 8 1/2” in height by 9” from handle to spout- a teapot, which measures 6” in height by 9 1/2” from handle to spout- a creamer, which measures 3” in height by 5 3/4” in depth- a covered sugar bowl, which measures 4 1/2” with the lid by 7” in depth- a waste bowl, which measures 2 3/4” in height by 4 1/2” in depthTotal weight is an impressive 126.8 troy ounces. Hallmarks are shown. Tiffany says about the Hampton pattern that: “This Tiffany design is both modern and classic. Its proportions are harmonious like great architecture. Hampton was named after Hampton Court, the country palace of England’s King Henry VIII.”Founded in 1837 by Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young in Brooklyn, Connecticut, as a “stationery and fancy goods emporium”, with the help of Charles Tiffany’s father who financed the store for only $1,000 with profits from a cotton mill, Tiffany & Co. became a highly regarded brand for jewelry, gemstones, and silver. In 1845, Tiffany was a pioneer when it launched the Blue Book, which at the time was the first mail-order catalogue to be distributed in the US. In 1878, Tiffany won the gold medal for jewelry and a grand prize for silverware at the Paris World Fair Exposition. Its exceptionally enduring legacy as a luxury brand is still vibrant to this day.
