Steinway Retour d’Egypte Art Case Piano, 1925:
Steinway & Sons “Empire”, Egyptian Revival, or “Retour d’Egypte” style rosewood art case piano, Model L/O baby grand, serial number 233699, 1925, with warrant decal to soundboard, restored in 2000 and fitted with “Pianodisc” mechanism, the rosewood case and action above three legs, each in the form of columns flanked by gilded bronze pharaonic-headed stele, lyre-form harp. 37″ H x 56.5″ W x 6′ L. Provenance: From a 230 Central Park South private collection. Note: This piano was professionally restored by Lindeblad in 2020. The work included refinishing the soundboard, new soundboard decal, new strings and turning pins, rebronzing of the harp, new damper felts applied with regulation, refinishing the cabinet in custom finish and polishing of hardware.
