Pre-World War I Imperial German Wuerttemburg Generalmajor “dunkel-blau” dress tunic with brocade sash. An uncommon, desirable, and complete tunic from the period before World War I. Made from a very high quality dark blue wool, the exterior of this tunic is undamaged with the exception of one small moth nip on the lower left edge of the rear panel. Twelve gilt buttons secure the front of the tunic, with six present on the tail, four on the cuffs, and two on the shoulder boards. Attached to the right shoulder board and right front is a desirable and undamaged General’s aiguillette. The tunic is lined in a fine black silk on the upper half, and a red cotton linen on the lower half. The red linen has a couple of tiny holes and/ or snags, with no visible damage to the fine black silk. One inner pocket is present on the upper left, with no name tag present. The collar, cuffs, and inner front are made from a fine quality red wool, with some very minor moth tracking 12″ from the bottom on the lower right inner panel. An inner belt with nickel plated fittings is present with some freckling to approximately 30% of the nickel finish. The general officer collar and cuff insignia are made from a fine quality gold bullion with a nice age patina. Two superb quality Generalmajor’s epaulettes are present, and each display the correct red threads of the state of Wuerttemberg. Included is a high quality undamaged Wuerttemberg officer brocade sash with portepee-like tassels. The correct Wuerttemberg colors of red and black color scheme on the silver bullion background is present throughout. CONDITION: Overall excellent to near mint.
