    Marion Fall Auction

Sir Robert F. Marx was best known for his scuba diving and marine archeology expertise. He discovered over 5,000 shipwrecks over his career. His first was the SS Winfield Scott in California, which he traded for gold coins. Several lots featuring artifacts from Marx’s estate are available in the upcoming Marion Antique Auctions sale. Particularly highlighted is an ancient Roman amphora vase, possibly from 200 to 300 CE. It features two handles and sits on a wooden stand. The piece, like other lots from the same provenance, appears to be from a shipwreck.   A three-volume set of History of the Indian Tribes of North America is also part of the sale. These books were respectively published in 1848, 1849, and 1850. 120 portraits by Thomas McKenney and James Hall are featured in this first Octavo edition. The auction will also showcase paintings, American furniture, whaling era instruments, weapons, jewelry, decor, and more. Visit Bidsquare to register to bid or view the entire catalog.
