Decorative Arts, Fine Art & Jewelry

Two works from Èdouard Leon Cortès are on offer in the upcoming Decorative Arts, Fine Art, & Jewelry auction, presented by Bunte Auction Services, Inc. The son of a family of painters, Cortès focused on the beauty of Paris and its inhabitants within his paintings. One of the available works depicts pedestrians and a horse-drawn carriage passing the Place De La Madeleine. The other painting shows a farmer leading a cart in the countryside. Though Cortès was active well into the 20th century, he painted historical subjects with a desire to stop time before World War II.  Several paintings from Will Lamm will be presented in this sale as well. Paeon, Ca. 1949 is highlighted. This framed and signed oil painting shows an angel in white flying above a courtyard. The piece was exhibited in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and won the 1951 Hallgarten Prize at the National Academy of Design. An Alexander Calder lithograph, a landscape from William Didier Pouget, and a selection of vintage rings will also be offered. Decorative Arts and Fine Art

The upcoming two-day Decorative Arts and Fine Art auction presented by Bunte Auction Services, Inc. features paintings and etchings by Wallace Nutting, Ada Walter Shulz, Hiroshi Yoshida, John James Audubon, Frank Benson, and others. Hiroshi Yoshida, one of the best-known artists of the shin hanga style, had a great affinity for nature. He revived traditional Japanese woodblock printing, also known as  ukiyo-e. Yoshida’s ukiyo-e prints incorporate red, blue, purple, and sakura-pink pigments. A colored woodblock print titled Spring in a Hot Spring by Yoshida is a key highlight of the auction. An oil painting by Ada Walter Shulz is another lot of interest in this sale. Children dominate Shulz’s art, usually painted in the Impressionist style of capturing the moment. The present lot, titled Girl with Cat, shows a young girl on the grass holding a cat in yellow, green, and brown colors. The auction will also present sculptures by Sheila Oettinger, Chinese vases, Hummel figurines, and blankets. The sculpture by Oettinger was inspired by the artist’s interest in the female human form. Her Superiority sculpture depicts a woman in a sitting posture with her hands on either leg and her neck slightly tilted. René Lalique’s work is appreciated for its innovative motifs and creative glass designs. Lalique rose to fame with his creation of jewelry, mostly featuring women as sensuous characters and animals. A Sauterelles (Grasshopper) vase from Lalique’s making is at the forefront of the upcoming auction presented by Bunte Auctions Services with the highest estimation.  Along with vases, the auction is governed by guns, militaria, trains, dolls, and toys.  Within the collection of 177 lots, Spencer Breech-loading Repeating Carbine Rifle is amongst the items that attract a larger audience and buyers. Decorative Arts, Fine Art & Jewelry

Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s life was a seamless blend of fate, hard work, and talent. Renoir moved to Paris between 1844 - 1846 near Louvre (a world-renowned art museum). Less than six decades later, he’d be known as the leader of the Impressionism movement. Featuring more than 30 of his works, Decorative Arts, Fine Art & Jewelry auction by Bunte Auction Services presents an honorable collection for art admirers. Amongst the 197 lots offered, artists like Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, and Edouard Leon Cortes not only define variation but present exclusivity.  One artist that cannot be missed is Edna Hibel. Almost 98 years of life experience made her pour colors on every canvas, ever so delicately. Best known for her use of colors, the painting featured here is an oil glaze on canvas depicting two-woman (circa 1970). However, standing out among this fine selection of art is Edouard Leon Cortes’s work at the highest estimated value of $16,000. The painting is a portrayal of people walking through the streets, to what seems to be in the evening as the lights are glowing on the background on the poles. This imaginative and vivacious painting, among many more, can only be found in this collection. Visit Bunte Auction Services for more information.
