Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Offshore and Rolex’s Submariner Watches Highlight Timed Sale by Bidhaus
Considered to be the pioneer in luxury sports watches, the Royal Oak is a celebrated model of the world-famous watchmaker Audemars Piguet. Introduced in 1972, the watch was created by the famed designer Gérald Genta. Inspired by traditional diving helmets, it was named after a British Royal Navy warship, which commemorated the tree that saved King Charles II. A Royal Oak Offshore blue dial men's watch is a key highlight of the upcoming Bidhaus sale. The watch has a unique style featuring prominent screw heads and an inventive case design. Some of Rolex’s popular men’s watches also lead the listings. Two of them are automatic models: a GMT Master 2 brown/ black bezel winding dial watch and a submariner watch with 18-karat white gold. The latter timepiece was produced for diving and is water and corrosion resistant. The sale features a cushion diamond necklace featuring 18-karat white gold. Weighing 35 carats, the pillow-cut gem has a square shape with rounded edges. The antique shape has been in existence for 200 years. It also has automatic movement, 40 mm case diameter, and 12.4 mm thickness. Rolex created and patented an exclusive 18-karat pink gold alloy cast in 2005, naming it Everose gold. It is used on all pink gold Rolex Oyster models. The Cosmograph was created 50 years ago as the ultimate timing tool for endurance racing drivers. The Cosmograph Daytona bezel features a tachymetric scale, an ideal instrument for measuring speeds up to 400 units per hour, expressed in kilometers or miles. Rolex Cosmograph Daytona remains in a class of its own among sports chronographs. Among jewelry lots, a Tiffany & Co. channel diamond and platinum engagement ring is a notable lot. Bidhaus Presents David Webb Jewelry, Hermès Birkin Bags, and Other Luxuries for Mother’s Day
Bidhaus’ upcoming Mother’s Day auction of fine jewelry, handbags, and couture offers a curated selection of gifts and collectible luxury items. Among the top lots is a brilliant-cut diamond engagement ring that weighs 12.19 carats. The GIA-certified center stone boasts I color and SI2 clarity. Other key diamond jewelry pieces include a 48-carat necklace by David Webb. Three rows of diamonds comprise the necklace, including one row of alternating brilliant and baguette-cuts. Further examples come from the design tables of Cartier, Cacciari Salvati, Boucheron, Hammerman Brothers, and Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. Forming a robust section of this auction are designer handbags and accessories. These include an electric blue Birkin bag by Hermès. The idea for the Birkin bag was famously conceived in the skies during a chance encounter between Jane Birkin and Hermès’ Jean-Louis Dumas in 1984. Since its creation, the standard Birkin bag has branched out to include (at times) cargo-style pockets, canvas elements, and experimental shadows. There is also a dedicated line featuring rich jewel tones. The available Birkin bag in Blue Frida comes with its original and unused box, storage bag, and care instructions. For items sold in this Mother’s Day sale, the auction house will offer free shipping in the continental United States.
