Online Only Decorative Arts Auction at Pook & Pook!
Pook and Pook Auctioneer & Appraisers is having yet another Spring Online Only Auction beginning at 10AM EST on May 20th, 2020. Bidding will be available on the 500 lots online through Bidsquare. A large portion of the lots are from the Collection of Linda and Dennis Moyer, of Zionsville, Pennsylvania (the bulk of this collection to be sold later this year in a single owner sale). As always, there is a large cross section of decorative arts material. Stoneware, redware, art glass, quilts, pewter, silver, furniture, and artwork are just a few of the categories represented. There are two stoneware crocks with pecking chicken decoration, a Hamilton & Co. crock, a White’s Utica with a folky bird, a S. Hart jug with love birds, a Troy NY crock with flowers, a large group of Stahl redware, and so much more. Several lots of Gaudy Dutch will cross the block, including a vibrant war bonnet plate. There is mocha, spatterware, Leeds, flow blue, and Historical blue Staffordshire. A nice group of transferware plates will be on offer in the cyberspace auction including many of Civil War interest. The quilt and textile department is overrun with a nice Irish chain, several Amish quilts, coverlets, several hooked rugs, some samplers, piles of homespun, hankies, paisleys, etc. Metalware includes wrought iron, a group of tin cookie cutters, an early dough scraper initialed HS, just to name a few. Country wareofferings consist of wallpaper boxes, chalkware, stools, baskets, smoke decorated cannisters, slaw boards with heart cut-outs, firkins, and gameboards. As usual, there is a nice group of antique furniture, including several pieces from a Lancaster County home, with several standouts such as a yellow painted drysink, a tall chest, a corner cupboard, Dutch cupboards, a nice painted one drawer stand, a bench table, painted blanket chests, tavern tables, and a nice walnut pin top farm table. Check out lot 1193 for a really nice group. One of the more unusual lots in the sale is a Wagner Hollow Ware country store cast iron frying pan display. There are fraktur and bookplates as well as ephemera all waiting for a new owner. This is a small selection of what you will find in this fun spring auction.
