    Carol Schwartz Gallery Liquidation

    The Carol Schwartz Gallery recently closed the doors of their North Wales location. The final pieces of this art gallery will be available in the upcoming liquidation auction offered by Alderfer Auction. Some of the highlights of this two-day sale will include works by New York-based photographer Jordan Matter, Israeli artist Arona Reiner, and several hand-knotted Israeli rugs. With over 150 available lots, the first day of the sale will feature many photographs by Jordan Matter, who specializes in water dance photography. Highlighted is a print depicting a dancer in front of Philadelphia’s Love sculpture. Other available Matter prints include one showing four dancers in the rain and another of dancers under Ben Franklin bridge. Other notable lots are a Pancorbo giclee nude portrait, an abstract landscape painting in bright red, green, and blue colors, and a Maskit hand-knotted rug with an abstract design. Also included is a Coca-Cola still life multimedia painting by Arona Reiner, prints by Norman Rockwell, office chairs, mirrors, and more.     Carol Schwartz Gallery Liquidation

    The second day of the upcoming Carol Schwartz Gallery Liquidation Auction offered by Alderfer Auction will feature cabinets, photographs, prints, chairs, paintings, sculptures, and more. Prolific Art Deco poster illustrator, Paul Colin, designed over 1,900 pieces in the early 20th century, including book designs, theater sets, and costumes. Influenced by both Cubism and Surrealism, Colin’s posters have bold shapes, caricature, striking colors, and highly stylized forms. One poster designed by Paul Colin is included in the auction. Among the notable lots are a Harley Davidson advertisement titled The Art of Motorcycles, a giclee painting by Gisela Fabian depicting pigs eating fruits and pumpkin, and a group of three easels with retractable legs.     Fine & Decorative Art

    As a key figure in early American abstraction, Charles Green Shaw was a master of varied artistic styles. One of his abstracts is being presented on the first day of Fine & Decorative Art Auction by Eldred's Auction. Among the featured works is a lively landscape by Charles C. Gruppe (American, 1860-1940) depicting a scene of the harbor. Like Charles Green Shaw, Gruppe is also widely recognized for his contributions to the art world. Eager buyers looking for an exquisite piece can find a sculpture entitled Le Triomphe (The triumph) by F. Bazin.     The second day of the Firearms, Military, Accessories and Ammunition auction, presented by Alderfer Auction, features 541 items. The auction includes insignias, badges, medals, photographs, along with firearms, swords, rifles, etc. In this diverse collection, one of the most noteworthy lots is a semi-automatic pistol of WW2. The Colt Government Model with checkered wood grips belonged to Corporal Harold T Richards of the 17th/11th Airborne Division.  Representing the German leaders from World War II is a German WWII cigarette album. The front of the album features intertwined letters DRF (Deutsche Reichs Fuhrer) translating to German Reichs Leaders.     The first day of the Firearms Auction presented by Alderfer Auction will appeal to weapons collectors. There are 494 lots, with starting bids ranging from $20-$8,000. The collection features categories such as pistols, rifles, revolvers, and more. Smith & amp., a double-action revolver is a performance-centered revolver with an aim point scope and a satin silver cylinder.     The very first bisque dolls were created by French doll makers sometime around the late 1950s. With time, they grew popular and sparked the interest of German doll makers.     Majolica Auction

    Imagine a piece of Italian history decorating a flower bed or an entryway.  Majolica is a Middle Eastern tin-glazed pottery that dates to the Italian Renaissance period, during which time the pottery was being exported into Italy through the Isle of Majorca.  The colored pieces are often on a white background and usually depict historical or mythical scenes.
