Set of 2 Pablo Cano Cabaret Puppets, Piano Man & Niki + Book:
This eccentric pair of marionettes features a small Kiddy Keys piano named Piano Man, dressed in a tuxedo, with various objects creatively forming its head and body. Accompanying him is Niki, a singing ant who originated in Pablo Cano’s 2007 Viva Vaudeville, a fantasy-inspired show commissioned by MOCA. Niki is crafted from an assortment of items, including a red floral bowl, a doll head, and wooden balls. Included with the marionettes is the catalog, Full Circle, documenting eight years of Cano’s productions at MOCA, created for his 2005 exhibition, The Beginning. The first page features a handwritten note from the artist to his friend Alicia, along with sketches of both Piano Man and Niki. Pablo Cano, a Cuban-born, Miami-based artist, creates charming marionettes from found objects, discarded materials, and items contributed by friends and family. He incorporates these unique creations into his performances and displays them as sculptures. A small card around the neck of Piano Man has a handwritten text with the name of artist, title, and date. Largest artwork dimensions (Piano Man): 20″L x 21″W x 25″H.
