Rosenthal Porcelain by Constantin Holzer-Defanti Figurine, Korean Dancer:
Porcelain figurine titled “Koreanischer Tanz” or “Korean Dance,” designed by Constantin Holzer-Defanti for Rosenthal, circa 1918-1927. This Art Deco piece portrays a dancer mid-performance, inspired by the famed expressionist dancer Anita Berber. The figure is adorned in traditional costume with vivid enamel colors including red, blue, green, and gold, decorated with stylized floral motifs. She stands in a dramatic pose with one leg lifted and one arm extended, mounted on a round white and gold base featuring the sculptor’s name, “C. HOLZER-DEFANTI,” incised into the surface. The base also includes a golden sculptural element resembling a mask or theatrical figure. The underside of the base is marked with the Rosenthal Selb-Bavaria mark.
