Rene Lalique (French, 1860-1945) Original Cast Metal Tondo Architectural Element:
Title: The Abduction. Beautiful cast metal relief sculpture with brown patina designed by Art Nouveau and Art Deco master craftsman Rene Lalique. This large high relief tondo depicts two handsome male nudes set among lush foliage. One male is molded in low relief and the main figure in outstandingly protrudes from the surface similarly to end of century sculptures by Auguste Rodin. This cast still includes area lines that shows Lalique’s casting method. The three different parts form a single surface that serves as a frame with rugged texture. This outstanding quality piece was acquired directly from the private collection of the descendants of Rene Lalique and has never been offered publicly.
