Rene Lalique (French, 1860-1945) Original Cast Metal Architectural Element:
Outstanding cast metal relief sculpture with brown patina designed by Art Nouveau and Art Deco master craftsman Rene Lalique. This large relief depicts a standing male nude who carries a female nude cradled in his arms. The composition is set on an irregular curved surface that was pressed in on the reverse part to form a raised, elongated rectangular shape that serves to support and project the couple’s limbs. This cast includes five protruding pieces similar to those used to clamp onto a second mold. This splendid quality piece has never been offered publicly and was acquired directly from the private collection of the descendants of Rene Lalique.
