This shape featured in Collector’s Choice Review #2, August 1988 by The Rockwell Museum, in Red Aurene. The author, Robert L. Ivers, Director, Corporate Design at Corning Glass Works says: This vase is particularly successful as a mature statement of design in form, decoration, and function. It is well proportioned with a comfortable solid taper, yet has an overall feeling of lightness. Its subtle platform base is echoed by the diameter and proportion of the lip at the top of the vase. The Aurene leaf and feather decorative motifs executed in linear patterns over masses of color serve to define and reinforce the form and bring harmony to the design. The entire design of the vase anticipates its completion with stems of blooming flowers.
decorated brown Aurene vase of a different shape is shown in Collector’s Choice Review, No. 26, Nov.-Dec. 1991. The article by Thomas P. Dimitroff says: This extremely rare decorated brown Aurene vase was made about 1908. Although iridescent red and green Aurene objects like this were made until the late ‘teens, the browns were made only until about 1910. The Brown Aurene decoration of this vase is based on Alabaster.
