Paramount, 1969. An eye patch made of black mesh cotton with a black leather strap worn by the Duke in his Best Actor Academy Award-winning role as Rooster Cogburn. Included is a notarized letter of authenticity typed on Batjac letterhead and signed by Gretchen Wayne, widow of John Wayne’s oldest son, Michael, attesting to its provenance and to the fact that Wayne wore a new one during every day of production. The eye patch is displayed in a frame below a black and white image of Wayne in a scene from the film.
