Jean Dufy
France
1888-1964
Vibrant depiction of yellow and pink roses nestled in a decorative blue vase contrasting beautifully against the burnt orange ground. Dufy studied at the l’Ecole des Beaux Arts under his brother, Raoul Dufy, and A.E. Othon Friesz before dropping out of school to study exclusively with his brother. Dufy had also worked for Haviland and received the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts gold medal in 1925 for his work. The painting includes a correspondence email with Jacques Bailly Gallery Paris, France, confirming the work to be an authentic work by Jean Dufy.
