George Ohr was an American ceramicist. The self-proclaimed ‘Mad Potter of Biloxi’ studied at the Newcomb College and worked primarily in Mississippi. While his early work was primarily functional, he became more experimental in his later work. It was not until after his death that Ohr’s work achieved widespread acclaim. Today, Ohr’s work can be found in private collections as well as in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, LACMA, and the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum, among others.
