This portfolio of six splendid original black & white and color photographs on paper was shot in 1985 by Colombian Neorealist Fernell Franco. It includes two black and white close-ups of the Municipal Theater in Cali shot in a atmospheric chiaroscuro technique and four photographs with colors seemingly applied by hand, connecting the arts of painting and photography. Franco’s 2016 retrospective at the Fondation Cartier in Paris sealed his reputation as the most important figure in contemporary photography in Colombia and one of Latin America’s greatest pioneer of artistic urban photography. This set includes the original portfolio cover, an accompanying text written by Fernando Cruz Kronfly, and a short biography. Each photograph is signed and dated in graphite on lower right: Fernell Franco 85. Edition numbers on lower left: 48/180. Each is housed in a metallic frame with a pressed off-white paper background. Each photograph dimensions: 7.75″L x 9.75″H. Each frame size: 14.75″L x 15.50″H x 1″W. Photographs can be unframed.
