Robert and Tor Erickson’s newest chair design is inspired by the American elk, the wapiti. The antler form of the leg creates a structurally strong chair that is very light. This piece is made from salvaged California walnut from grower Roger Moore’s orchard near Grimes, California. 29″h, 24″w, 26″d
This father and son team builds just 75 pieces of furniture a year, mostly chairs and tables. They painstakingly craft sculptural pieces of furniture off the grid, deep in the woods of the Sierra Nevada. Their work is represented in various collections, including the Smithsonian’s American Art Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Yale University Art Gallery.
