A delightful cast bronze vase with Shang Dynasty (1600 to 1046 BCE) style decorative flourishes – ram’s heads, taotie masks, dragons, and other mythical animals. In the early 20th century, fabulous discoveries of Shang period tombs led to national pride in the Chinese past and sparked the creation of vases such as this one.
