Chauncey Foster Ryder, Antique Oil on Board, Signed:
Exceptional antique original oil on board by American Post-Impressionist landscape artist Chauncey Foster Ryder whose paintings are held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY; The National Gallery, Wash. DC.; The Art Institute of Chicago, and in the most discerning private collections. Known for his outstanding use of a green-grey palette (the Ryder green), he focuses on a directly observed countryside scene where two farmers in a cart are pulled by two massive oxen. Ryder paints with broad abstracted brushstrokes, dabs of white and purple-pink impasto, and ranges of warm browns and light blue that result in a splendid overall tonalism. Signature on lower left side: Chauncey F Ryder. Housed in a gilded frame. Artwork dimensions: 13.50″L x 15.75″H. Frame dimensions: 17.75″L x 19.25″H x 1.25″W.
