1983 South African Gold Krugerrand coin encapsulated in a protective slab. The obverse displays a portrait of Paul Kruger, the former president of the South African Republic, accompanied by the inscriptions “SUID-AFRIKA” and “SOUTH AFRICA” in Afrikaans and English, respectively. The reverse features a depiction of a Springbok antelope, the national animal of South Africa, set above natural terrain. The date of issue, “1983,” is split on either side of the antelope. The lower edge includes the text “FYNGOUD 1 OZ FINE GOLD,” indicating the coin’s gold purity and weight. This bullion coin is struck in 22-karat gold (91.67% pure), with the balance made of copper for added durability. The coin is presented in a sealed holder for preservation and authentication.
