    Rare artist’s edition of the ‘Missions Collection’ made by Omega offered at auction

    This collection, presented in a case made of the same white fabric used to make spacesuits, comprises 22 stainless steel automatic chronograph bracelet watches with further display movement featuring on their dials the logo of NASA’s famous space missions (from 1965 Gemini V mission to Skylab SL-3 mission of 1973), one re-edited model of the original Speedmaster (Ref. CK 2915), a spare caliber 1861 movement and a Bergeon OMEGA branded loupe. LISBON.- An extremely rare artist’s edition of the 'Missions Collection' made by OMEGA to celebrate the Speedmaster Professional's 40th Anniversary will be up for sale on October 1st, on a Watches sale held by VERITAS Art Auctioneers. “Richly decorated with NASA mission patches, the Speedmaster Missions Collection relates the exceptional adventure of space exploration in which the Speedmaster Professional - the only watch worn on the moon - was greatly involved”, accounts the branding brochures accompanying this notable launching of OMEGA. This collection, presented in a case made of the same white fabric used to make spacesuits, comprises 22 stainless steel automatic chronograph bracelet watches with further display movement featuring on their dials the logo of NASA’s famous space missions (from 1965 Gemini V mission to Skylab SL-3 mission of 1973), one re-edited model of the original Speedmaster (Ref. CK 2915), a spare caliber 1861 movement and a Bergeon OMEGA branded loupe. Fifty of these cases were produced by OMEGA in three different editions: one of 40 produced in 1997 and two editions of five (each) in 1997 and 1998. This particular set is numbered 01/05 ‘Epreuve d’artiste', part of the five sets that the watchmaker allocated to their best collectors at the time.
