The Lifetime Collection Of Kim Hammergren – Vintage Jukeboxes And Many Other Items – Will Be Sold Labor Day Weekdend In Macon, Ga
The auction will be conducted by Preston Opportunities, whose owner, Preston Evans, was a lifelong friend of Mr. Hammergren’s. It will be held Sept 3rd and 4th, different venues each day. BYRON, Ga. – Just like the news of Mark Twain’s death, reports of Preston Evans’s retirement have been greatly exaggerated. The longtime auctioneer will find himself conducting yet another major two-day auction event, in Macon, on back-to-back days and at a different venue each day, on Labor Day weekend, September 3-4. The sale will liquidate the estate of Kim Hammergren. The large crop of vintage jukeboxes includes this excellent example of the Wurlitzer 950 – the “king of jukeboxes” – so rare that one almost never appears at auction. “The past eighteen months have been difficult in so many ways, and my heart goes out to all who have been severely affected by the pandemic,” Mr. Evans said from his home in Macon. “One loss that was especially difficult for me was the loss of my longtime friend, Kim Hammergren. I’m honored to have been asked by his wife Peggy and his children to liquidate his collections.” Mr. Evans said a huge overflow of items, especially jukebox parts and accessories, will be sold in Auction #1, on Friday, September 3rd, at 1011 Bass Road in Macon. It will feature jukebox parts (including speakers and wall boxes) and jukeboxes that can be restored or used for parts, plus other kinds of interesting items that fans of Preston Opportunities auctions are accustomed to viewing and bidding on. Vintage motorcycles will be a component of Auction #1. A preview will begin at 8 am. The auction will start at 10:30 am (all times Eastern). Auction #2, the following day, will be held at the former Mercy Grace Church building, about ten miles from the Friday venue. Offered will be a large selection of jukeboxes, Catalin and Bakelite radios from the 1930s and ‘40s, coin-ops, Coca-Cola machines, cash registers, slot machines, arcade games, trade stimulators, advertising items and more motorcycles, by names such as BSA, Cushman, Harley-Davidson and Triumph. Doors open at 7:30…

Items belonging to Preston Evans’s longtime friend Buddy Austin, recently deceased, will be sold, to include his beloved 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air and a collection of vintage motorcycles. BYRON, GEORGIA, UNITED STATES, August 11, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Preston Evans of Preston Opportunities is very good at many things – like collecting and being an auctioneer – but he’s terrible at retiring. “I tried to retire,” he said from his home in South Georgia, “and it worked until I was motivated to get back in the auction ring. I found it impossible to sell all my collections in the time I spent trying to put together an event.” That was four years ago. Since then, at least five important collections have fallen into Evans’s lap (including the estate of his longtime friend and fellow collector, Buddy Austin, recently deceased). Those items, plus Evan’s leftover inventory never before offered for sale, all add up to one thing: a major auction for all of it, planned for four days, the weekend of Sept. 4th thru 7th. Coke collectibles, many of them early and in impeccable condition, will include rare and vintage coolers, posters, dispensers, clocks, vending machines, buttons, ice chests and even a bicycle. The auction will be held at the Big Peach Antiques Mall in Byron, Georgia, 12 miles south of Macon, off exit 149 of I-75, at 119 Peachtree Parkway. Start times all four days will be 10 am Eastern. Seating will be available in the lower room of the mall. The expected overflow crowd will be accommodated outdoors. Limited online bidding will be through LiveAuctioneers.com. The auction is packed with antiques and collectibles in many categories. Offered will be toys, Western items, Popeye collectibles, advertising, movie posters, petroliana (gas station collectibles), jukeboxes, arcade games, magic memorabilia, trade stimulators, coin-ops, slot machines, Coca-Cola items, music boxes, cash registers, watches, clocks, pre-1899 guns and swords, Civil War items, scientific instruments, vintage cameras, vintage cars and motorcycles.
