Pre-Revolutionary War map of New York City by John Montresor (British, 1736-1799), titled A Plan of the City of New York & Its Environs, published in 1775 by A. Dury in London, England. MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – A pre-Revolutionary War map of New York City by John Montresor (British, 1736-1799), a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie card graded 3.5, and a 16.75-carat diamond tennis bracelet are just a few of the expected top lots in a two-session estate auction scheduled for Saturday, May 15th by EstateOfMind starting promptly at 11 am Eastern time. Session 1, at 11 am, will feature property from longtime gun collectors and dealers. Included will be assorted rifles, large lots of gun parts (including 03-A3 stocks, some with cartouche) and large lots of contemporary and vintage ammunition. Rifles will feature a U.S. M 1917 30-06 cal. rifle, serial #05965; a Venezuela mfd. 7 x 57 cal. Mauser carbine; a DSM 34 Nazi .22 cal. training rifle B 1972, serial #73151; and a Yugo M48 8mm Mauser rifle with bayonet, Bez Oznake. Session 2, immediately following, will contain estate items, to include important jewelry from a New York City financier; items from the 18th century Sanford Homestead in Warwick, N.Y; a large hoard of sports memorabilia from a home in Monticello, N.Y.; a collection of rare American large denomination gold coins (including Carson City); ancient Roman and Greek silver coins; furniture from period to mid-century modern; and folk art, paintings and prints. The Montresor map of New York City, titled A Plan of the City of New York & Its Environs, was published in 1775 by A. Dury in London, England, even though the actual survey was performed ten years earlier, in 1765. It was printed in anticipation of New York becoming a battleground prior to the start of the Revolutionary War and measures 26 inches by 21 inches (less the frame).     Included with the flight jacket are 29 albums of Ilya A. Tolstoy’s top-secret photos for the Office of Strategic Services’ China-Burma-India theater mission. The personal World War II flight jacket of Count and Colonel Ilya A. Tolstoy, the grandson of the renowned Russian author and Count Leo (Lev) Tolstoy (War and Peace). MIDDLETOWN, NY, UNITED STATES, September 14, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The personal World War II flight jacket of Count and Colonel Ilya A. Tolstoy, the grandson of the renowned Russian author and Count Leo (Lev) Tolstoy (War and Peace), plus other items from the estate of Ilya Tolstoy, is an expected top lot in a two-session auction scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd, by EstateOfMind, live and online, at 11 am Eastern. Ilya A. Tolstoy was an officer with the Office of Strategic Services (CIA) from 1942-1946. The size 42, type A-2 Army Air Force Flying Tigers flight jacket has a China-Burma-India theater insignia and retains a “Blood Chit” American flag with Chinese characters that reads, “This foreign person has come to China to help in the war effort. Soldiers and civilians should rescue and protect him.” The jacket comes with a notarized document from the estate of Mr. Tolstoy. Oil on canvas Old Master painting of Isabella de Medici, from the Circle of (or by) Allessandro Allori (Italian, 1535-1607), 33 inches by 26 ½ inches. Included with the flight jacket are 29 albums of Ilya A. Tolstoy’s top-secret photos for the Office of Strategic Services’ China-Burma-India theater mission, including approximately 1,860 land, sea and aerial photos, plus an index identifying the place and location of each, for years 1942-43. Also from the Tolstoy estate is a large watercolor equestrian-themed scroll titled Dancing Horse, signed by Beihong Xu (Chinese, 1895-1953) with three seal marks and calligraphy. The scroll has an overall size of 80 inches by 25 inches. Beihong Xu (also known as Ju Péon) was famous for his ink paintings of horses and birds and for his huge oil paintings with epic Chinese themes.
