1957 Chevrolet 150 Available with Cates Auction & Realty Co., Inc. This October
Cates Auction & Realty Co., Inc.’s October timed sale offers a wide range of luxury motor cars, tractors, classic cars, implements, ATVs, and more. Among the top lots is a 1957 Chevrolet 150. This model was in production from 1953 to 1957 as an economy/fleet model. Based on auto name trends from the 1950s, the 1500 production series number was altered to give it its name. The 1957 models featured broad, flat tailfins incorporated into the rear fenders. As part of Chevy's design philosophy, the 150 possessed simple lines, upholstered interiors, uniform colors, and a rubberized floor covering. In addition, the 150 model included a 502 cubic inch engine, big block 502 four-speed transmission, two-door coupe, Hurst shifter, black and white interior, and a red exterior. Another notable car listed with Cates Auction & Realty Co., Inc. this October is a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air. Chevrolet made a major overhaul to its full-size car lineup in 1955. The model year was characterized by three series: the 150, the 210, and the Bel Air. These models were powered by V-8 engines. This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air comes with similar features as other models, including an automatic transmission, MSD ignition parts, American racing wheels, full-wheel covers, and a Ferrari-style front grille. Electric windows, fenders with chrome spears, interior carpet, and a two-door coupe are among the car’s recognizable design elements. Other vehicles available for bidding include a Newmar 4369 Dutch Star, a 2019 John Deere 6120M tractor, and 620R Loader, among others. Diverse Sale From Cates Auction & Realty Features Italian Furniture, Art by Sergio Bustamante
A group of Italian chrome and leather folding chairs by Arrben is among the top lots of Cates Auction & Realty Co., Inc.’s latest sale. Founded in 1969, Arrben is known for its leather chairs and handmade Italian craftsmanship. The offered chairs are presented in a group of four—three are green and one is tan colored. The smooth leather seats and backs contrast with bright chrome frames. Several lots designed by Mexican artist and sculptor Sergio Bustamante will also be available. The offered works primarily depict the sun and are wall sculptures. Sol Eclipse is one such painted mache work that is numbered 27/100 and depicts the face of a sun with two pairs of eyes. Another key sculpture lot in the catalog is a signed bear sculpture by Victor M. Vigil, a Jemez Pueblo artist of New Mexico. His works are often carved of alabaster and soapstone. They depict animals, birds, and Native American figures in clean lines that embrace the shape of the stone. The offered carved stone sculpture sits on a wooden base and measures 17 inches high, according to the auction house. Several glass lamps in the style of Tiffany Studios, which come to auction on bronze finished bases, will be available. Authentic James Eaton Weathervane and Vintage Artemide Castore Table Lamp to Sell With Cates Auction & Realty Co., Inc
Dating back thousands of years, a whirligig is a spinning top, buzzer, pinwheel, or amusing weathervane that whirls or spins. Although it is usually powered by the wind, a whirligig can be friction-, hand-, or motor-powered. Used as kinetic garden ornaments, these are designed to transmit sound vibration into the ground to repel rodents. An authentic James Eaton weathervane made of painted aluminum is a key highlight of this upcoming auction, offered by Cates Auction & Realty Co., Inc. Titled 1 Horsepower Wheeled Thing, the vintage sculptural whirligig combines folk and contemporary aesthetics. Eaton’s pieces are known for bright hues, whimsical style, and unique materials and processes. His artworks have been displayed at exhibitions across the United States. Another old-fashioned lot in the sale is an Artemide Castore table lamp. The Rathcon magnetic hoops suspension sculpture features an RCA black plate power tube. Artemide is an Italian manufacturer founded in 1960 by Sergio Mazza and Ernesto Gismondi. The company is known for manufacturing lighting created by noted designers and architects. Two antique pendulum wall clocks also lead the offerings. Both of them are styled with striking carved wood details.
