    Visual artist Julian Opie is associated with the New British Sculpture movement. His simple figurative portraits reflect his perception of contemporary life. His silhouettes are inspired by Egyptian hieroglyphics, Japanese woodblock prints, and traffic signs.     Andy Warhol’s Tidal Basin is leading the Sunshine Sale of Modern & Contemporary Art, offered by Dane Fine Art. It is a one-of-a-kind three-dimensional screenprint and collage on paper depicting a couple on a romantic getaway, produced by Warhol in 1983. The iconic Campbell’s Soup can painter rose to prominence with his paintings and screenprints. His painting style and subjects were as unique and extravagant as the artist. He chose to paint subjects that the American public was obsessed with, like Marilyn Monroe. Posters of Monroe by Andy Warhol are also available in the sale. Madonna, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera performed two hits, Like a Virgin and Hollywood, during the 2003 VMA ceremony. Their performance and attire were wedding-inspired. Spears and Aguilera dressed as brides, and Madonna was in a black catsuit. The performance made headlines for the onstage kiss shared between Madonna and Spears. The image of the two pop sensations locking lips is shown in Line Kiss, a screenprint by Mr. Brainwash which is available in this sale.     Rare and Limited Edition Contemporary Art by Andy Warhol and Robert Longo Come to Sale with Dane Fine Art

    The oldest version of silk screenprinting gained popularity in China and Japan during the ancient period and the Middle Ages. The medium significantly transformed in the 20th century, when artists in New York started exploring it as a fresh form of creative expression. In the 1960s, Pop artists such as Andy Warhol used screenprinting to critique consumerism and capitalism. An original silkscreen on Lenox Museum Board by Warhol is a key highlight of the upcoming sale from Dane Fine Art. Titled Howdy Doody, it is published by Ronald Feldman Arts Inc. and belongs to a limited edition of 200. It depicts Howdy Doody, the eponymous marionette from the famous American children's television program.  Another noteworthy work is Robert Longo’s Jules, a lithograph with embossment on paper from a rare edition of 45. It belongs to his 1980s Men in the Cities series. It portrays a man dressed in black and white in a dramatized posture with a contorted expression.     Mr. Brainwash (a pseudonym for Thierry Guetta) is a French artist based in Los Angeles. His style is a blend of street and Pop art.
